Programme 02
Food first, then income
This programme helps women and young people move from not having enough to running something of their own.
We start with a backyard garden so the household eats better, then go further with integrated farming: greenhouse farming, livestock production and value addition. Entrepreneurship and business skills turn the surplus into income and create jobs close to home, especially for women and youth.

Inside this programme
Backyard gardens
Women set up vegetable gardens at home so their families eat fresh food every day.
Integrated farming
Greenhouse farming and livestock production alongside the garden, so families have more to eat and more to sell.
Value addition
Processing and packaging produce into products that keep longer and sell for more.
Entrepreneurship skills
Agro-business and business training, so a harvest becomes a steady income.
How graduation works
From a backyard bed to a small business
Grow
Each woman starts with a backyard garden, then adds greenhouse farming and livestock.
Sell
Once the family is fed, the surplus and value-added products go to neighbours and local buyers.
Build
Entrepreneurship training turns that garden into a small business that keeps paying.
Why we start with women
A fed home sends a fed child to school
When a mother grows food, the whole household eats better, and children arrive at school ready to learn. That link between home and classroom is why this programme sits beside our school gardens.
Young people join the same training and leave with farm skills they can earn from.
